1. What L. reuteri is, and why you had never heard of it

Lactobacillus reuteri is one of the most studied probiotic strains in the world. It was first isolated by the German microbiologist Gerhard Reuter in 1962. Since then, more than 200 clinical studies have been published on it — from pediatrics to gerontology [1].

The very idea that bacteria could extend life traces back to Nobel laureate Ilya Mechnikov. In the early twentieth century, he noted the longevity of Bulgarian peasants and linked it to their daily consumption of fermented dairy products cultured with lactobacilli. His work laid the foundation for the entire global probiotics industry [5]. L. reuteri is a direct continuation of that idea — only now backed not by observation, but by hundreds of peer-reviewed studies.

Yet here is the paradox: for all this research, L. reuteri long remained a "doctors' secret." Pediatricians prescribed it in drops to newborns for colic. Gastroenterologists knew of its ability to suppress Helicobacter pylori. But as a standalone product for adults — for daily use, for longevity, for immunity — it barely existed on the market.

LONGIVIYA BIOTICS is changing that. We have gathered everything science knows about L. reuteri into a single daily ritual — in a format that is easy to carry and takes a second to use.

2. The bacterium we lost

This is perhaps the most important part of the story.

A study by the University of Alberta, published in the journal Cell in 2025, found that people in rural parts of Papua New Guinea carry more than 50 species of gut bacteria that are entirely absent in North Americans. L. reuteri is one of them [2].

What happened? The modern way of life — antibiotics, processed food, sanitation, stress — systematically eliminates this species from our bodies. L. reuteri was once a natural inhabitant of every human gut. Today, in most people in developed countries, it is not detected at all [3].

This is not just a curious fact. The disappearance of L. reuteri coincides with the rise of autoimmune conditions, chronic inflammation, metabolic syndrome and accelerated aging. Scientists call this "microbiome depletion" — and they consider the deliberate reintroduction of lost species to be one of the key strategies of preventive medicine [2].

You are not simply taking a probiotic. You are giving yourself back what civilization took away.

3. What the science says: five directions of action

L. reuteri does not act like a pill for a single symptom. It works at the level of the whole system — through modulation of the immune response, the gut–brain axis and hormonal signaling.

Gut and digestion. L. reuteri is one of the few probiotics that survives stomach acid and can colonize the upper intestine. It produces the antimicrobial compound reuterin, which suppresses pathogenic bacteria — including H. pylori, Salmonella and E. coli — without harming beneficial flora [1]. A 2023 meta-analysis confirmed the effectiveness of L. reuteri in functional gastrointestinal disorders in children and adults [4].

Immunity and inflammation. L. reuteri lowers levels of the pro-inflammatory interleukin IL-17 and raises the anti-inflammatory IL-10. The ratio between these two cytokines is what determines how quickly the body ages and how vulnerable it is to chronic conditions [5]. A 2025 randomized, placebo-controlled study (48 healthy adults, 8 weeks) confirmed the safety and immunomodulatory effect of L. reuteri [6].

Bone tissue. A clinical study by Nilsson et al. (Journal of Internal Medicine, 2018): 90 women aged 75–80 with osteopenia received L. reuteri or placebo over 12 months. The result: bone loss in the L. reuteri group was almost half that of the placebo group [7].

Skin, hair, healing. A series of studies from MIT and the University of Thessaloniki (Poutahidis et al., PLoS ONE, 2013–2014) showed that L. reuteri increases skin thickness and hair-follicle activity, and speeds wound healing twofold. The mechanism works through stimulation of the vagus nerve and raised oxytocin levels [8, 9].

The gut–brain axis. L. reuteri is one of the rare strains that acts on the central nervous system via the vagus nerve. Increased oxytocin is associated not only with healing, but also with improved social behavior, reduced anxiety and a greater overall sense of well-being [8].

5. Composition and formula

ComponentPer sachet (7 g)Role
Lactobacillus reuteri10 billion CFUCore probiotic
Fructooligosaccharides (FOS)2,000 mgPrebiotic — food for the bacteria
Inulin1,500 mgPrebiotic — stimulates L. reuteri growth
Vitamin C150 mgAntioxidant, immune support
Erythritol2,350 mgNatural sweetener, 0 calories, GI = 0

Why this particular formula?

Most probiotics on the market give you the bacteria — but not their food. The bacterium reaches the gut and dies, unable to find a suitable substrate. LONGIVIYA BIOTICS is a synbiotic: live L. reuteri arrives together with FOS and inulin — its preferred food. It is like planting a tree in prepared soil rather than on asphalt.

10 billion CFU is a dose dozens of times higher than the L. reuteri content of most comparable products, and 5 times higher than most capsule forms.

The formula is completely sugar-free. Erythritol is a natural sweetener with zero calories and a zero glycemic index. For the 35+ audience, and for anyone who watches their metabolic health, that matters.

6. For the whole family

L. reuteri is not a narrowly specialized supplement. It is a bacterium that every person needs, but that almost none of us still carries. That is why LONGIVIYA BIOTICS was created as a daily ritual for the whole family.

For women

  • Support for bone tissue in perimenopause and menopause — L. reuteri reduces bone loss by almost half [7]
  • Improved skin and hair through raised oxytocin [8]
  • Vaginal microbiota balance — L. reuteri has been clinically shown to help restore the microflora

For men

  • Reduced chronic inflammation — a key factor in age-related decline of testosterone [9]
  • Support for metabolism and immune resilience
  • Faster recovery — healing and muscle regeneration via the oxytocin pathway [8]

For children from age 3

  • L. reuteri is one of the most studied probiotics in pediatrics: more than 80 clinical studies in children [4]
  • Supports normal gastrointestinal function and strengthens immunity
  • Sugar-free sachet format — dissolve in water or yogurt
  • Pleasant taste, no capsules or tablets

Dosage

DosageHow to take
Adults1 sachet per dayPour onto the tongue or dissolve in water
Children 3–12 years½ sachet per dayDissolve in water or yogurt

Recommended course: 30 days. Repeat 3–4 times a year or take on an ongoing basis.
